How to Decorate For Halloween Without Sacrificing Your Positive Energy Flow

With Halloween just a week away, you might already be wondering whether or not it’s possible to celebrate in a way that doesn’t compromise the positive energy flow of your home. Let’s face it; skeletons, tombstones, and all the hair-raising hallmarks of October 31st don't exactly evoke health, happiness, and harmony! Don’t take this as a sign to abandon Halloween altogether though, because it’s entirely possible to celebrate this spooky season in a way that can still be in-line with your Feng Shui goals.

1/ Pick the Right Kind of Decorations

Just because it’s Halloween doesn’t mean that it’s fair game to be inviting negative energies into your home. As on-theme as they may be for this time of year, try to avoid decorations that depict things like skulls, skeletons, tombstones, gory plastic body parts, or weapons. These are all symbols of death, decay, and violence and can block the flow of positive energy. If you’re attempting to manifest a healthier, more vibrant way of living, hanging up plastic skeletons can send out an entirely different message! To keep the energy positive, opt instead for more wholesome decorations such as pumpkins, candles, and faux Autumnal foliage. Curate a vibe for your home that’s cozy, not creepy.

2/ Ditch the Black

Black may be the unofficial color of the season but too much can dull the energy flow in your home. Black, with its symbolism of death, mourning, and despair, can attract negativity and extreme emotions into your home, so keep it to a minimum. Or, explore the other side of Halloween’s color palette with joyous oranges, browns, and reds.

3/ Make Your Home Inviting to Trick-or-treaters

The front door of your home is an important area in Feng Shui since it’s considered to be “the mouth of chi”, meaning it’s where the fresh, new energy enters in from. Keeping it well lit and welcoming means creating a welcoming environment for this new, abundance-attracting energy and, at this time of the year, it also means creating a welcoming environment for trick-or-treaters too! Trick-or-treaters represent the energy of abundance coming to your home, so having a dark and gloomy entrance means scaring off both the children and the incoming flow of prosperity. Solar-powered string lights or lanterns around your front door can keep things well-illuminated, happy, and harmonious.

4/ The Post-Halloween Energy Cleanse

Once October 31st has passed and you’ve taken the decorations down, you can cleanse and reset the energy in your home by placing white quartz crystals in the upper corners of your rooms. White quartz is a powerful crystal that works to purify the energy and raise its vibrations, helping to get rid of any lingering “spooky” vibes!
